The post reads that “With a heavy heart and deep sorrow, we inform the sudden and unfortunate death of our founder, our dearest brother, and son, friend, and mentor, Kerby Craig. Words can hardly express our sadness. Today, as we commemorate his life well lived we also determined the 10-year birth anniversary of the Ume food brand founded by Kerby in the year 2012 with a much loved fine-dining Japanese cuisine restaurant.

    The late chef always desired to live out his passions and worked tirelessly in order to make Ume what it is in the present day, bringing fun and joy to individuals through mouth-watering delicious food.     The late chef started his career in hospitality at just the age of 15 after dropping out of his schooling education and started working at the famous restaurant of Japanese-Australian founded by chef Tetsuya Wakuda in Rozelle. The late chef spent time in London pursuing his cooking art and when he came back to Sydney he served as a chef de parties at the Koi restaurant which is closed now. The restaurant was in Woolwich. In the year 2012, he opened his own fine-dining Japanese restaurant named Ume which is in Surry Hills. Though he is not between us but his food will always remain with us.
