    According to police, a guy on a TTC bus sprayed a flammable substance on a woman on the same bus before lighting it, according to a press statement published Sunday evening. The man fled the scene but was apprehended nearby, according to authorities. The man’s age had been reported as 35 by police on Friday, but it was later clarified as 33 on Sunday. TTC staff, bystanders, firefighters, police, and TTC special constables assisted the woman in her 20s before she was brought to the hospital by ambulance.

    The woman was suffering “severe burn-related injuries,” police reported in a tweet at the time of the event. On Friday afternoon, TTC CEO Rick Leary told CP24 that the woman was in “severe condition.” Following the attack, a TTC employee called transit control, saying there had been a fire on the bus. The employee stated that she has a female that has second-degree burns and that she is conscious and breathing and the fire is out.
