Hyderabad: A person who went to take a shower, drowned in a pond allegedly after his friends forcibly dragged him into the water at Kondapur in Ghatkesar right here on Sunday night. The police have booked his friends for culpable murder not amounting to homicide.

Police stated M. Srinu (25), a non-public worker from Balaji Nagar in Ghatkesar alongside together with his friends B. Pochaiah from Dammaiguda, O. Gopi from Balajinagar went to swim within the pond positioned on the outskirts of the village when the incident occurred.

“The friends got into the water to take a bath and asked him to join them, but he refused as he did not know swimming. Even after repeated requests, when he did not agree, they forcibly pushed him into the water thinking it would get rid of his fear,” police stated.

However, a couple of minutes later, Srinu began drowning. His friends tried to rescue him, however in useless,” police stated.

They alerted the native villagers and knowledgeable the Ghatkesar police, who reached the spot and with the assistance of swimmers, started trying to find him. Nearly two hours later, Srinu’s physique was retrieved from the pond.

The Ghatkesar police booked a case of culpable murder not amounting to homicide in opposition to Srinu’s friends and have taken up investigation.

“Though they had no intention to kill, due to their negligent and reckless behaviour, a life was lost. Hence, they were booked,” an official stated.

The physique was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for post-mortem and handed over to the household on Monday.
